Captain Tom Pitasi has been fishing most of his life.
Born and raised in Greenwich, Connecticut, Tom spent much of his youth fishing Long Island Sound
for Bluefish and Striped Bass. After work and on weekends Tom and his friend Kevin, whose family
owns a marina, would borrow a boat and go fishing. After high school Tom spent 14 years in the
telecommunications / cellular industry, all the while fishing whenever he could. In 1995, Tom was
hired as a full-time firefighter with the Greenwich Fire Department. As a result of the fire
department schedule, Tom was able to spend more time on the water and did so frequently. In 2000,
Coastal Fishing Charters was “launched”, fishing out of Norwalk, Connecticut, and on occasion,
Watch Hill, Rhode Island. Today, Tom continues his duties as a Greenwich Firefighter and in 2003,
Tom, his wife Denise, and their children Olivia and Thomas along with Coastal Fishing Charters
moved its homeport to Waterford, Connecticut to fish Block Island Sound, Eastern Long Island Sound
and its surrounding waters for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Bonito, False Albacore and Tuna.
Captain Tom is a member of The Team Triton Boats Pro Staff, The Raymarine Pro Staff and Navionics
Pro Staff he is also sponsored by Sage Fly Rods, Lunker City Fishing Specialists and Azores
Eyewear. Captain Tom has filmed 3 TV shows with Northeast Angling (see
www.neangling.com).
Each year Captain Tom fishes the Montauk Redbone, a tournament to benefit Cystic Fibrosis.
In 2002, Captain Tom won two categories, most Striped Bass Released and Largest False Albacore.
In 2005 Captain Tom was joined by the TV Show Northeast Angling to fish the Redbone.
Captain Tom along with the Northeast Angling show hosts Andy LoCascio & Rich Tenreiro competed
in the celebrity/pro division. Capt. Tom guided Rich Tenreiro to victory winning both the celebrity/pro
and the spin/plug divisions. In 2007 Captain Tom filmed with Shallow Water Angler TV, which airs on the
Outdoor Network, three shows will air starting in January 2008. Captain Tom was featured on the
cover of Shallow Water Angler magazine (see
www.shallowwaterangler.com) in August 2007; as well he has
had many appearances in other fishing and boating magazines.
